Nicole Wegner, born in the former GDR, started as a trailer producer and worked for MTV, VIVA, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central. Wegner graduated from Academy of Media Arts Cologne with her award winning feature music documentary “Parallel Planes“.
She was involved in various arts and culture projects in Cologne. As a founding member of BAUSTELLE KALK and a music curator at the project room GOLD+BETON she was responsible for live show programming and scene networking within the city.
She founded her production company Particular Productions, with which she received a grant from the Mediengründerzentrum NRW in 2018. She produces, directs and edits documentary films particularly connecting musical subcultures, political action and digital scapes.
With her debut “They Got You Fighting a Culture War” she received the Gerd Ruge Grant from Film und Medienstiftung NRW and is part of the Documentary Campus Masterschool program in 2024. The docuseries looks into culture wars and online political radicalisation.
