What does sound mean? What does silence mean? An intimate look into the life and work of Irmin Schmidt, the founder of the Cologne band CAN, which shaped generations of musicians in pop and electronic music. The film traces the path from being a classical conductor to a student of Stockhausen and Ligeti to creating CAN, on to doing film music for Wim Wenders and Roland Klick, opera and electronic club music.
